For too long we have all heard our conventional colleagues repeat the mantra “there is no scientific basis for acupuncture” as well as the other TCVM treatments. Of course these individuals have never done a PubMed database search (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/) using the key words “acupuncture” or “Chinese herbal medicine”, for if they had, they would find at least 16,288 acupuncture abstracts and 11,275 Chinese herbal medicine abstracts from the premiere scientific medical journals around the world and more added weekly. As TCVM practitioners, we know from our clinical experiences that there are many situations where TCVM treatments expedite recovery, reduce adverse side effects and prevent recurrences of disease. Now new veterinary research findings are supporting our clinical impressions.
