The Four Stages

Gloria Weintrub VMD

Abstract

This is a TCVM diagnostic system useful for identifying the patterns of acute febrile diseases often seen in veterinary medicine. It is used specifically for Excess Wind-Heat conditions which usually have a rapid onset and cause injury to Yin, Blood and Body Fluids. The system describes the pathologic changes that occur as Excess Wind-Heat travels deeper into the body. The Four Stages are Wei, Qi, Ying (nutrient) and Xue (Blood) and define the depth and therefore the severity of the disease.
