Degenerative myelopathy (DM) is a debilitating and progressive myelopathy in dogs. Diagnosis and treatment of DM is challenging. In traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM), DM is associated with three TCVM Patterns which include Spleen Qi Deficiency, Qi Deficiency plus Liver/Kidney Yin Deficiency, and Liver/Kidney Yin Deficiency plus Kidney Yang Deficiency. Pattern differentiation, acupuncture and herbal treatment are discussed along with case examples in this paper.
